Providence Health Care (PHC) will be going live with the new clinical information system, CST Cerner, on November 16, 2019. The first wave will include their acute sites, St. Paul's Hospital, Mount Saint Joseph Hospital and Holy Family Hospital, along with the long-term care homes at these sites. There's a lot of work ahead and CST implementation will require extensive support resources to ensure successful implementation.
The PHC CST team is putting out an urgent call for peer mentors: full-time secondment positions for three to eight months. Through the CST clinical staff secondment program, PHC is recruiting clinical team members in all program and services to support their implementation.
Peer mentors will be the first to receive training on how to use the new system in a clinical setting. In this pivotal role, peer mentors will work with unit teams to provide clinical support leading up to, during, and after the system goes live.
The CST secondment program is all about "pay it forward, pay it back." This is a great opportunity for VCH and PHSA team members to see the CST Cerner system in action and take back the experience and knowledge to their home site/unit. Staff will be a change leader for their peers and be among the first to champion the transformation that will improve patient care.
Clinical staff who are currently working at VCH or PHSA and are interested in a short-term secondment role can learn more, can apply online on Transformation Central, here.
