On April 28, 2018, Lions Gate Hospital and Squamish General Hospital became the first two acute care sites to go live. BC Cancer is next, which will be the first PHSA agency and first major ambulatory centres to go-live.
The CST project will be implemented in phases over the next several years. In early 2018, the CST Project Board agreed on an expanded roadmap for the next major sites to follow BC Cancer: Providence Health Care sites, BC Children’s Hospital and BC Women’s Hospital & Health Centre and then Vancouver General Hospital.
It is important to note that the clinical transformation – the process of establishing common workflows and practices is an ongoing process. Learnings from each implementation will be incorporated into successive activations at other facilities.
The first major physical evidence of the transformation has happened, with the installation of Omnicell automated medicine dispensing cabinets at health care facilities across VCH, PHSA and PHC and the construction of the new Vancouver Pharmacy Production Centre (formerly known as the Regional Production Centre), which began operating in fall 2016.
*Please note that the order of the sites rolling out, and associated timeframes, is subject to change.
