The new clinical information system will allow clinicians to easily access complete and accurate information essential to patient care when necessary.
Patient health information will be assigned standardized codes to create structured data, based on the mandatory reporting requirements for the Canadian Institute for Health Information (CIHI) and the Ministry of Health. This data is used internally for decision-making, performance measurement and quality improvement; and externally for hospital funding, clinical research and national benchmarking.
