On June 22, the CST Cerner system was successfully upgraded, across VCH-Coastal sites, to the latest version of Cerner Millennium.
"We are the first in Canada to upgrade to the latest version of the Cerner system, making us leaders in this space," says Ryan Gerard, CST Chief Transformation Officer. "Congratulations to everyone who participated in making this a success. From our CST and IMITS teams to Coastal leadership – thank you for all your hard work to ensure a seamless transition for system users and their patients."
This version is easier to use, brings more stability and additional functionality – such as enhanced fetal monitoring – and offers improved performance, including enhanced speed and responsiveness.
"The team worked tirelessly overnight with the Cerner Upgrade Center to ensure minimal impact to users and resolve issues. We couldn't have done it without them," says Amr Kabesh, CST Technical Director.
The upgrade involved a short, planned downtime in a few areas only, and because the overall look and feel of the system remains largely the same, no additional classroom training was required.
This latest version of the system will be implemented as the rest of VCH, PHC and PHSA go live over the next two years.
