In a major advancement for patient care in British Columbia, this month BC Cancer – Victoria and the Nanaimo Community Oncology Network successfully went live with CST Cerner. They mark the final activations for the dedicated CST project team that has led this work for more than ten years.

In June 2024, Richmond Hospital, Minoru Residence and several clinics and programs at the Community Health Access Centre, Richmond Health Science Centre and Garratt Wellness Centre went live on the shared electronic health records system, CST Cerner.

At the beginning of June, Forensic Regional Clinics & Programs (FRCP) became the latest BC Mental Health and Substance Use Services site to transition to the shared electronic health records system, CST Cerner.

Before the rollout of CST Cerner began in 2018, health care providers across B.C. maintained different patient records systems. When young people transitioned into adult care from children’s services, they often only had access to a short summary of their medical history.

Another CST project milestone within BC Cancer was achieved on May 21, 2024, when BC Cancer – Surrey successfully transitioned to CST Cerner, the integrated electronic health records system.

Feb. 22, 2024

In a significant leap forward for patient care in the region, BC Cancer – Abbotsford successfully transitioned to CST Cerner, an integrated electronic health records system, as part of the CST project. This pivotal move 
marks another step closer to delivering more seamless care to all cancer patients in B.C.

Dec. 5, 2023

On October 28, 2023, another CST project milestone was reached with the activation of CST Cerner at VCH-Vancouver’s UBC Hospital (UBCH) campus, including Djavad Mowafaghian Centre for Brain Health, and
three long-term care sites.

Nov. 22, 2023

In mid-October 2023, Forensic Psychiatric Hospital (FPH) was the newest site to transition to the shared electronic health records system, CST Cerner, as part of the Clinical & Systems Transformation (CST) project.

In June 2023, BC Cancer – Prince George was the latest site to go live with CST Cerner – a new, integrated electronic health records system designed to improve the safety, quality and consistency of care for patients and their families across British Columbia.
