Richmond Hospital and four VCH community sites are now live on CST Cerner

In June 2024, Richmond Hospital, Minoru Residence and several clinics and programs at the Community Health Access Centre, Richmond Health Science Centre and Garratt Wellness Centre went live on the shared electronic health records system, CST Cerner.

CST Cerner is designed to improve the safety, quality and consistency of care for patients and their families across British Columbia. Patients visiting Richmond facilities can now expect an enhanced care experience, with care teams having seamless and immediate access to patient records. Safer medication management, faster access to lab results and medication therapies and less time spent repeating information or undergoing duplicate tests are just some of the benefits offered by CST Cerner.

CST Cerner brings significantly more functionality to staff and clinicians at the point of care. Care teams across Richmond now have their patients’ up-to-date medical records at their fingertips, giving them more time to focus on patients. They can more easily access and update patients’ conditions, allergies, medications, investigations and previous medical history.

With Richmond now on the same electronic health records system as other sites, including Vancouver General Hospital and UBC Hospital, there is even smoother flow of patients and patient information between VCH facilities. This is in addition to enhanced connectivity with other live sites across the province, including Lions Gate Hospital, St. Paul’s Hospital, BC Children’s and BC Women’s Hospitals, BC Cancer – Vancouver and Forensics Psychiatric Hospital, among many others. See the full list of live sites.

The overall number of CST Cerner users is now more than 42,000 across Vancouver Coastal Health, Provincial Health Services Authority and Providence Health Care. Learn more.
