November 16, 2019 was a momentous day: the day Providence Health Care’s St. Paul’s Hospital (SPH), Mount Saint Joseph Hospital (MSJ), Holy Family Hospital (HFH), and affiliated long-term care homes and select clinics, started using the CST Cerner system. This represented around three quarters of the organization and the go-lives have continued throughout 2020 and into 2021, as Providence’s remaining sites and clinics are successfully brought onto the system.
“Seeing these launches go smoothly and watching more health care providers start using the CST Cerner system to improve patient and resident care – especially during a global pandemic – is incredibly gratifying. As we know, the need for a modern, connected clinical information system has never been more critical than it is right now,” said Wynne Powell, CST Board Chair & Special Advisor to the Health Minister, in a message to staff working with the Clinical & Systems Transformation, or CST, project.

Our care teams will now have real-time access to the information they need, including faster access to lab results and medication therapies. Family doctors can also now receive consult reports, discharge summaries and other reports,” said Leanne Heppell, Chief Operating Officer, Acute Care & Chief of Professional Practice & Nursing, and Dr. Ron Carere, Vice President, Medical Affairs, Providence Health Care, in a message to Providence staff and physicians.
